Kate has apparently discovered her vocal range. Her new favorite....screaming (and I mean the girliest, loudest, and longest shriek ever). We discovered this new 'sound' the other day.
We went over to Jay's mom's house to visit and cousin Max and Liam were there. Within 2 seconds of walking in the door and spotting Max she let out this LONG, LOUD shriek of excitement. It was pretty cute. Now she does it all the time when she gets excited.
In addition, she also appears to be speaking Japanese. I will try to video tape both.
On the walking front, she has been taking steps here and there and is VERY close to making this her main form of transportation.
Loving this new fall weather. We bought an adorable plaid pea coat for kate that I'll have to get a picture of.
Have a good night.

1 Year Old
My baby is no longer a baby....she is a toddler. Sad and exciting all at the same time.
We had her 1 year checkup last week and it was awful. Well it was good for the most part but she cried and cried during and after the shots. Then they had to prick her finger and draw blood. Worst experience ever. Jay had to have her in a choke hold and had to hold her finger as the lab technician squeezed and squeezed vial after vial of blood. All the while she stared at me and screamed bloody murder. I'm starting to sweat just thinking about it.
Here are her stats:
Weight: 19 lbs. 13 oz. (30th percentile)
Height: 29 1/4" (57th percentile)
Head: 18 1/4" (84th percentile)
She's doing lots of new things these days and has changed quite a bit. Here's what's new:
-She now has 8 teeth and she grinds them....i shiver thinking about it....but appears to be getting over that
-She loves to try and feed herself. Favorites still include crackers and basically anything carbs. She also enjoys chicken but oddly only chicken from a restaurant. Maybe it is my cooking
-Almost walking....sooooooo close. She takes a few steps here and there
-Trying to ween her off of the bottle which has been going pretty good
-Knows where her tummy is and will point to it if you ask
-Obsessed with washcloths....arrived at daycare the other day to find Kate sobbing....found out a 'friend' tried to borrow her wash cloth....it was a rough day for Kate, same day that she was bit...well actually she placed her finger in a 'friend's' mouth so I guess that doesn't count as biting
-Can do 'touchdown'
-Learning how to shake her head 'no'.....greeeaaaat.
-Such a goofball and tons of fun!

The voice in my head is nasally while thinking of a caption for this one...

She loves to play under the table
One of her final days sporting 'the pony' - note new hairstyle below
Loves to climb the stairs
Chillin in her aviators
The new 'do'. Hair brushed to the side with a bow or clip
And this face is so 'Jay'

Love that smile
Quite the pose Kate....I feel like she should be on a beach with the waves crashing on her

Valleyfair
A couple weeks ago we ventured to Valleyfair with Jay's parents and cousin Max. (this is a really late post) We had a great time and I hadn't been there in years. Kate had a great time even though she couldnt' go on many rides....she loves to people watch. Here are some pictures from the day....the only picture that is missing is the freak out Jay and Kate had as we were stuck at the very top while on the ferris wheel.
1) Jay is scared of heights and was not thrilled to be on the ride
2) He for some reason thought I was getting dangerously to throwing Kate over the side of the cart trying to get a picture...she was standing on my lap and perfectly safe
3) Kate proceeded to freak out because of her father's freak out....needless to say it was not an enjoyable ride

What's a puppy say
Kate's one chatty little girl....she babbles all the time (most of which we have no idea what she is saying) but there is one other word that she has seemed to master besides 'mama and dada'.....'woof'. Its more of a blowing out a candle/woofing but cute non the less.
Sorry I couldn't figure out how to rotate the video.

House Update
Many of you are probably wondering what the latest is with our house situation.....
Last tuesday the house we wanted got another offer which was non-contingent...the owners accepted and we had 48 to sell our house. Needless to say we were not able to close a sale in such a short time frame.
So now, we're not exactly sure what we're going to do. We're leaving our house on the market as we've had 10 showings in two weeks and they've all had pretty good reports so we'll just wait and see. We'll keep looking at houses and may even look at building.
Who knows what may come of this but if nothing else it is teaching us patience and how to keep our house really clean:)

Kate's 1st Birthday Party
This past Sunday we celebrated Kate's first birthday party (her actual birthday is tomorrow).
We had a great time and about 25 family members came to celebrate in our backyard. Kate was quite the trooper considering she had a cold and had 3 teeth coming thru. Thanks to everyone who came and thanks for all the great gifts!
I have a ton of pictures to post and not sure if I'll get them in order but enjoy:) PS - Mom, i think you need to clean your camera lens off as their is a blur on every photo....ha!
Can't believe she's turning 1 tomorrow....I'll reflect and let you know all her latest 'doings' in another post this week.
